Default Slipping clutch or transmission?

I'm experiencing an issue and I'm not sure if the problem is within my clutch or my transmission. There is a delay or lack of response in acceleration that happens after shifting from 3rd to 4th gear and punching down on the gas. The engine will rev up high but the car won't move as quickly as the engine is revving. If i keep the gas pedal down to the floor the engine will redline before it moves any faster. The feeling seems similar to pressing down on the clutch half way and just revving the heck out of the engine. I don't have this problem in gear 1st - 3rd. I can do dig with no problem matching rpms with the speed of the vehicle. Smell burnt metal but I'm not sure if its coming from the clutch or the transmission. I have an ACT lightweight flywheel and stage 2 spec clutch with a little over 10K miles on both. The transmission is stock from factory with aver 166k miles on it. My guess would be that it is the transmission since its much older with mores miles and I'm due for a rebuild or just buying a used transmission, but if you guys have any other ideas of what the possible cause maybe please let me know, thanks.

Sounds like clutch disc is slipping.

X2

What pressure plate are you using? Is the car NA?

I'm thinking maybe the clutch is glazed?

Check for leaking around your clutch pedal. Might be a leak.

How would a leaking clutch master cylinder be related to this problem? That does not make any sense to me.

Agreed sounds like a worn or slipping clutch, but odd that it slips in 10k miles. Maybe the clutch pedal wasn't adjusted properly. A partially grabbing pressure plate will waste a clutch pretty quickly, just like riding the clutch pedal will.

Leaking clutch master cannot cause slip.

Mis-adjusted clutch rod can surely cause slip, but if it was never touched that is not your problem.

Manual transmissions cannot slip, only clutch discs and tires can. It is either shift timing or lack of disc clamp.

Putting the car in a higher gear and punching the gas only to have the engine rev up without speed increasing... That is the tell tale of a slipping clutch. Your disc is likely at its life limits.

The car is NA. Only mods I have on the drive train is the ACT light weight flywheel and the stage 2 spec clutch double sprung hub with spring cover reliefs and Kevlar disc with steel backing. I don't think the clutch should be slipping since it's fairly new. I've done some research where issues withing the transmission can cause a similar problem but idk if anyone else has had this experience and if so was it fixed by Rebuilding the tranny or was it the clutch. Could it be air in the line that is not allowing the pressure plate to clamp down properly? Maybe a leak?

Air or leaks cannot cause slip, that would only have the opposite effect (incomplete disengagement and hard shifting).

Using light pressure with your pinky finger, does the clutch pedal have free play?

There is nothing in the trans that can slip. That only applies to automatic transmissions.
