Thumbs up Spark Plugs - What to look for

If you know your spark plugs, please share your knowledge.

Here are pics of my previous plugs. Please identify signs of running Lean or detonation. Basically, for myself and anyone else who is unaware of what to look for.

Hopefully plenty of users will find this helpful.

Thanks

I thought I typed some more to that post... oh well.

What I thought I typed was that they look normal to me. The only one that I think has had a little bit of a "heat stroke" is #4 just because the edge around the electrode looks to be flaking off. And the gap on #1 looks to be shorter than the rest, but that may just be the angle of the pic...

Use an ohm meter to measure the resistance of the center electrode... The s2k uses resistor plugs

They look a little cold/rich to me. My center electrode is always much lighter in color than the ones in your pictures. My car runs stock plugs on a stock engine.

Lean gives a super white, "bright" look in my experience. If you like in Alberta the cold fuel dump could make it look like that in the right heat range, but otherwise unless you are doing super short cold engine drives those are colder than optimum.

Thats the idea I was getting... So I should NOT get plugs that are a step colder?

Im thinking that these plugs are not getting hot enough to reach their 'self-cleaning' temperature... Which is cause for the carbon build-up, or carbon fouling to be technical.

Thanks
