speedometer problem

Just wanted to see if anyone else has encountered this problem. I was driving in the rain tonight for about 4 hrs and 3 hrs into the drive, my speedometer started messing up. I was going about 65 mph and when I pushed the throttle, my speedometer kept dropping gradually, all the way down to 39 mph but I was going at least 70. When I let go of the throttle, it would jump back up to the correct speed. :banghead: I am thinking it is my speed sensor, can anyone suggest anything else?

My car itself did not decrease in speed and the only electric mod I have is a vtec controller. I have 38k miles on my S. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I haven't had speedometer problems in the S, but my '94 Prelude did the same thing you described. It acted up one afternoon for no apparent reason but it soon returned to normal. I drove the car another 40,000 miles after that and it never happened again.

I may have been lucky with my 2 previous Hondas, but both my CRX and Prelude would seem to fix themselves when small glitch type problems would occur. Hopefully your S will do the same.

I've had my VAFC in for about 4 months, and this happened for the first time yesterday. Does the VAFC even interfere with the speedometer?

thanks again everyone for your help
