Default Stripped drain bolt

Guys just wondering what's the best way of going by this situation that I have. Bought my s2 completely stock about a year ago. Was going to change oil the very next day. I noticed that the drain plug was dripping a little. Very small drops. When I took bolt off I noticed someone had stripped the first couple of threads. So I got a new bolt. I was good. Now I noticed It started to drip again. So I go and get another bolt with new washer. Well when I take old one off and put my finger to block oil from completely pouring out, some oil poured into my oil recovery pan. When I looked at oil with light I noticed metal shavings. They where silver color. About 3 weeks ago I changed vtec silenoid gasget and it had no shavings. I drained oil completely. I noticed more shavings. My question is what's my best next move. I'm not sure if the shavings are from the threads or from some where else. Last oil change I did I didn't notice anything. What's the best way to drain all shavings if they where from the threads.

Well, for the stripped bolt --- Helicoil or some such device.

It would be quicker just to buy another pan.

At least the monkey did you the favor of stripping your oil drain bolt and not the fill bolt on your transmission - that's what I'm dealing with

I would recommend to remove the pan to repair it safely.

I'm thinking of just replacing the pan all together. But I'm thinking of what to do about the metal shavings that might be in the motor. Is there any way of flushing the motor of metal shavings? I'm worried of replacing the pan and topping of with oil but what about the shavings floating around in motor

This may or may not help you but I always use spoon magnetic drain bolt to catch floating debris. if there's any metal still in your oil system, i'm not sure if there's any other way than dis-assemble and re-assemble entire engine to make sure. if it's not severe, let oil system flush it out and catch it by magnetic device such as this.

As for my experience in spoon mag drain bolt, it saved my engine when I saw a train of ball bearings was coming out with the bolt and I had driven it around 100 miles in that condition.

When you drop the pan, clean the pickup screen. Whatever got past the screen is in your filter.
