but only when the engine is on? The notchy feel is the top of the travel and is now annoying!. I have checked and cleaned the TB, Throttle cable is within spec 4-6mm lubed and cleaned all components from the pedal up to the TB.

The only difference between those situations is the vacuum in the intake manifold.
Maybe that has its influence on the throttle valve and the shaft?

In the service manual are no other solutions for a "worn" TB then to replace

Do you have cruise control?
If so, that's another cable.

You may be right , no the UK cars dont come with cruse

Just on a side note:

If you change the TB go with one made by Spoon. It is a Honda unit with new sensors and bored out. It is also 100-200 dollars cheaper than the Honda unit

On the other hand: at WOT there is probably little pressure difference before / after the throttle valve.
Just a lot of air rushing by.
