Well here's the scoop after calling two local Dealers:

Dealer 1 - Curtiss Ryan (Shelton, CT)
"The S2000 oil filter that you mentioned is not yet available and shows backordered in the on-line system. You may, however, utilize the 15400-POH-305 standard oil filter in your vehicle without any problems. These sell for $6.95 each (or $4.99 each when purchasing 3)." - A.J.

Dealer 2 - Courtney Honda (Milford, CT)
"We currently have no S2000 oil filters in stock. I don't know when we will get them in. " - Parts Dept

Well there you have it. I don't know what any of you will experience from calling your local dealer, but it seems to me these are in demand!

I called up my trusty Honda parts counter and they were able to: 1) confirm the new S2000 oil filter part#; 2) place a large order for them; and 3) quote pricing.

They are smaller in diameter, but longer in length from what I can see. I think a lot of the new i-VTEC engines use this new design.

I'm in no rush to switch over. The "old" ones work just fine and life goes on.

Could the new filters be for the new S2000's (as in 2004 models)?

Yeah, and the next question to ask is "How much HP and torque will I gain by using it?"

Are there any problems using aftermarket filters such as Bosch or Mobil 1?
