Default Thumping noise from driveshaft?

I have just began to hear a slight thumping noise coming from the rear of the car while slowing down(intermittently). The noise only happens when i either have the car in neutral or have the clutch in when coming to a stop(on or off the brakes).I retorqued the axles but that did not help.I called honda techline and they told me that they have seen the driveshaft make some noises of this nature.Anyone have any ideas? The car is supercharged but it has NEVER been launched as long as ive owned it.Ive only got 25k on the clock and ive checked everything i can think of on the lift.It all looks perfectly normal! No noises when accelerating at full throttle. Its just bloody annoying at times!!

Joe, I'm sending this one off to the main UTH. We like to keep the noise threads out there, and keep the specifics/technical stuff in here.

Finding an intermittent random noise is difficult in person, almost impossible online. Good luck tracking it down.

You can always wait untill something breaks, then you'll know what the noise is

If the clutch is out while the car is in gear it wont make this noise.Usually it happens while i'm slowing down at an intersection with the brakes lightly applied.I've already checked the inner joints and there is a normal amount of play in them but nothing excessive. There is no vibration while accelerating,no whining noises to be heard just a thumping/tapping type sound.i'm thinking its the driveshaft.Ill be swapping it out with another s2 soon and see if thats the problem. Thanks for any input guys!!

do you have a custom exhaust that might be hitting against something?

No nails in the tires or custom exhausts. It is definitely coming from one of three things. The propshaft, the inner cv joints or the diff.It sounds almost like a very faint knocking sound.I notice it much more with the top down and is almost sounds like its coming from the right side.I've been able to get the noise while turning into a parking spot.It sounds almost exactly like diff backlash clunking.
