Ticking at idle only in cabin
Hello everyone,
i have recently purchased a 2006 s2000 with 46k miles on it. All stock besides a hks spec l exhaust. I just completed a valve adjustment along with a new billmans TCT, all performed mainly for preventative maintenance and completed by myself.
I have now acquired a ticking noise only at idle and only noticeable from the cabin with the top and windows up. The ticking disappears once any throttle is applied and comes back a few seconds after idle has settled. Prior to the work performed it was a pretty quiet engine. I did discover all the exhaust valve lashes to be rather tight when I performed the adjustment. I'm at a loss now at what could be making the noise. Attached is a video. Thanks in advanced for the help!

I've got very similar "ticking", only noticeable in cabin at idle. Mine is also an 06 with valves adjusted by me post purchase. Car runs like a top so have been ignoring it. I don't know if the ticking was there before performing the valve adjustment. I've also measured for crank walk and was well within spec maybe this is a characteristic of the car.

I've got the same exact tick too. Noticeable in all temperatures. More prominent in cold temperature. 2004 F22. It ticked before a valve adjustment, Billman TCT, new air filter, new spark plugs, no oil burn with 3k mile intervals. It is ONLY at idle after a few seconds and goes away for another few seconds with any amount of throttle applied. I've owned the car for 7 years and put 16k miles on it.

My 07 has a tick that seems to come from the dash. Turns out that it's due to the driver side sun visor which vibrates against the windshield trim when it is in the "up" position.

Update
Re-checked valve clearances. .009 intake .011 exhaust. Car still makes ticking/knocking at idle. Drove the car around the block and spin it up past 6 a few times and it appears to have resolved the ticking. Maybe piston slap at 46k miles? Screw it, just going to drive the car and not worry about it.

Check to see if noise is coming from idler pulleys or appliances running on the belt.
Good luck!

Well, worn, tight valves are deviously quiet. Properly adjusted valves are by contrast rather noisy. Perhaps the only issue is now normal valve clatter, that was previously masked by overly tight valves?
