Timing Belt Replacement: decision based on miles or years?

Hello--

My 2004 S2000 has close to 29K on it, purchased recently as one-owner used car. Exceptionally well maintained. Have done the basics -- flushed manual transmission fluid, oil & filter change, sparks, brake fluid flush. I'm wondering whether I should be also thinking about timing-belt replacement. Typically I change the belt on my cars around 60K but this being already an 8-yr old car, should I want to do it now even though it has so low mileage?

Thanks,

Dimitris

It's a chain, not a belt so you are all good.

No need to worry, it's a timing chain.
Just make sure your Timing Chain Tensioner is in tip top shape.

If it did have a timing belt, like a Civic, the change interval would be 120k miles or 10 years.

Isnt there a few accessory belts that need to be changed though?

Not at 29k/8 yrs.

Only one belt on the s2k. Drives the AC, alternator, and water pump.

In my experience, the life of this FACTORY belt (not an auto parts belt) is amazing and can easily go 75k miles before it even needs inspecting.
