Timing Chain Cover Seal Replacement
I've got the cover off for a separate project and wanted to replace the seals while i'm at it. It seems the like the seal (91212-PCX-003) is press fit in but i don't want to damage the case trying to force it out. Can anyone confirm the correct way to remove and replace it? Thanks!

I use a seal puller. If you are doing this with engine in the car, may want a shorter shaft puller. I remember seeing Ant, on Wheeler Dealers, tap a short metal-sheet screw into the metal part of the seal. Then, pull on the screw's head with pliers to remove the seal.

Not sure how many of these seals/bearings you'll be doing... but, here is a moderately priced driver set:

I bet if you reverse the 2.325" disc, it'll be close to 2.165". As long as you are driving a seal into the engine, this should be fine. Now, if it were a bearing, there maybe an issue with not-the-correct sized collar.
What I've done before, if the old seal cleanly comes out, is use the old seal to tap in the new one. Line-up the old seal on top of the new one. Just lightly tap around the edges of the old seal to seat the new one. Lube the seal and clean the engine casting, before replacing the seal. Tap until you feel the seal hit the casting stop point. :) |

The manual thing was more to point out there are other things you might want to pay attention too as well. |
If the seal is not damaged, leave it alone. You could do more harm than good. |
