Tranny Oil
Okay I bought a 2002 S2K not too long ago from (here it comes....) a dodge dealer. I cannot overstress the importance of NOT having numb nutz's tell you "oh we changed the oil" as the mantra. Do not assume just becaus they are so-called ASE certified they know what the hell they are doing. I happend to smell the old oil and it smelled like the automatich GL5 that are common in so many other cars.
The car did NOT have the proper oil, and the minor synchro notchiness has been totally solved using 100% Penzoil Synchromesh. No more notchiness or unwanted frikin clicks. Smooooth shifts.
If you end up buying one of these cars, make sure you change the oil and NOT at the dealer.
Next up is the clutch bleed.

i've never heard of a dealer doing ANY maintainence/servicing of a car before reselling it (unless certified used, but thats at honda only dealers for the s2k). all they do is put it back out on the lot with a sale price sign on it.
Not to hijack but I got my 02 S2k at an Infiniti dealership. It was really funny to be in an S2k surrounded by Q45's and G35's and QX45's that cost 2-3 times as much. Funny thing was, everyone who walked into the dealer stoped and looked around "my" car that was parked right in front.
I was like... "shoo!, it's mine!"

Alright, I don't mean to hihack the thread either but I have an issue w/ manual trans that bothers me. Why the hell don't automakers make it easier to check the oil level. They make a dipstick tube for the automatics but not one for the manual, WTF?
Fluid level is just as important in a manual and it would be a hell of a lot easier to change if a dipstick / filler tube were supplied.
I remember my 73 MGB had a dipstick for the manual trans. Problem was it was behind the radio console, under the carpet and a rubber plug. I had to have a T handle welded to it so I could pull it out and check it regularly.
There's no reason automakers can't make a manual transmission dipstick tube that can come up into the engine bay the same way an automatic does.
I know some people will say "they'll just put ATF in there if they have a tube", but I beg to differ. I think if you put the type of oil required on the dipstick handle, they'll know what you should use. But hey, that's just my opinion.
