Used oem starter or rebuild my starter?

Starter needs to be fixed on my car. So i am wondering, what is the best option?

Local shop said they can rebuild it. Assured me they use high quality parts that would be much better than any aftermarket solution(autozone, etc). Not sure on the price.

Used oem starters go for about 50-100. Could be hit or miss with used parts. Mileage usually isnt listed on ebay.

A good rebuilder, using good parts, is a good compromise compared to new Honda. Will definitely be better than a cheap overseas made new unit, or cheap overseas mass produced rebuilt.

Its all in the quality of parts, and reasonable skill of the one doing the work. Ask them to show you the parts they use, and explain why they are quality. That will give you a sense if they chose the parts based on quality, or just price.

The OEM Honda starter is faulty - mine has been grinding badly for the last two+ years. There's a DIY on how to rebuild yours and sandblast the worm gear to make a better, more permanent solution.
