Good call. Mine were all slightly tight the first time I pulled the VC at 52k as well. Not nearly that tight though! I had .070-.090 everywhere.

.007 - .009?
Doh! Yeah. Pretty damn tight, but that .002 Billman mentioned would have had me buying a lottery ticket if I caught it before damage was done...

I mis-shifted a few years (~30k miles) ago and was afraid (but not certain) that I over-revved. I took my car to the dealer a week later and had them do a leakdown test and it was fine. I'm still worried that possibly weakened retainers have developed cracks over time. Should I have a valve adjustment/retainer check done just in case? Is it also easy to check for crank walk at the same time?

they should be .010.

I have always recommended all s2ks get the valves adjusted at 10k miles on the odometer, and 75K intervals after that. The damage may be done on this one, but so far so good. We may have caught it in time.

I recommend all s2ks ESPECIALLY ap2 to have their valves professionally inspected and adjusted.

thanks for the incredible job you did on my S2K Billman...and yes was there with Billman and that one exhaust valve was incredibly tight...glad I decided to get the valves inspected/adjusted

is it overkill to check the valve clearance and retainer issue annually on the AP1's? i've done 5000 miles this summer and for peace of mind am considering it.
