Valve adjustment, yay or nay?

Currently at 114k miles on an 05 Ap2, I'm about to replace my Valve cover/gasket due to flaking, I had my valves last adjusted at 84k miles.
Would you recommend adjusting them again while I have the cover off? Or least checking specs? 30k miles since last adjustment.

My thoughts say it isn't necessary, but might as well since the cover is off.

They are probably fine but once you have the valve cover off you have done a lot of the work so if its me I would check the valve clearances, and adjust if needed.

Yeah, I'd do the check, too. Getting the darn cover off-&-on properly is 1/2 (okay, maybe 1/3) the labor.

Thanks everyone. I'll have them check the specs while theyre at it.

Not sure who the "them" doing this may be. :) Engine needs to be cold on our cars. Other cars often need to be hot..

I my opinion if you spent a lot of time in VTEC you should inspect the valves and adjust accordingly. You need a cold engine to do this. If you have spent little or no time in VTEC, don't bother.

Yeah, if this were diy, I'd definitely check. But if its a shop, guess what, they are going to either say a bunch of them needed adjusting and charge you, or not check them at all and say none of them needed adjusting (but charge you for checking).

Definitely worth checking while the cover is off.
