^^^ Well its not ideal. You could be getting some voltage drop or interference there. You might try carefully at least getting some electrical tape between the two wires to help cover and isolate them. You might have some other wiring issues if you have this one. The harness gets old and brittle after a while. I had to replace my entire engine harness in my 01 which was a fun job.

I taped up the bare wire. I checked the price on the EVAP purge control valve. $100. Why so expensive..... I located the part under my hood. Need the engine to cool off before I remove it. It's not terribly hard to get at.

Have you smoke tested the car for vac leaks yet?

This right here should be put in the stickys.

Scroll down to the charts. OMG this is what i've been looking for. It says right there. EGR valve stuck open. Causing negative trims at idle and normal while driving. Even tells you what to do to diagnose. This is too good. This can surely help other diagnose fueling issues.

But wait, I thought our cars didn't have EGRs. We have an air bypass thing.

We dont technically have an EGR valve, we have an air pump valve and its only open when the air injection is called upon with cold start. If its stuck open, I dont know, maybe? Id think you would get a cel though.

Would an air pump block off plate do the trick? ;-)

Been spending the last hour trying to figure out how the whole air injection system works and if there could be any reason my ECU would want to pull fuel at idle do to this system. The bypass valve in the back has a vacuum line going to it and the bottom of it obviously injects air into the intake manifold. If air is somehow getting injected into the intake manifold I would read lean fuel mixtures and the ECU would try to add fuel. Am I getting this right? Is there a system on the car that recirculates exhaust gases back into the intake?

The air pump injects air into the exhaust, not the intake. There is no connection from the valve to the intake tract.
