VTEC problems

hey guys! when i go about reving to 6000 rpm the VTEC doesn't always engage.. I do know of the temperature issue, and this is done after engine is warm enough.

Do you guys know what the problem could be?? thanks guys

Maybe not enough oil or your not hitting the gas hard enough.

dominosguy 05-07-2008 08:29 PM

yeah i just had the oil problem. i havent had a chance to test it yet but im sure thats what it was

skyteg 05-08-2008 05:04 AM

ah yeah that easy! ill go check that out in a few!

yea there are really not too many reasons why vtec won't engage.

1) engine is too cold
2) not enough oil pressure
3) not WOT (or close right?)
4) solenoid is not connected.

thats pretty much it lol.

^ Not exactly.
I can almost say that I have more experience with why vtec is not working then anyone else on this board. If its not your oil level then once you hit 6000 you are either going into vtec or it will throw a dtc p1259

That is a pretty bold claim. Lol, oil level is the definatly the first thing you want to check. AP1s especially burn oil, so you need to keep on top of that.

I had this problem before; Its usually the temp. or low oil!!

Definitely check the oil!!
