Default weird sanding-like noise

There is this faint noise I hear coming from the engine bay (more noticeable in neutral, 1st and 2nd and very low rpms ~ 2000-3000rpm)... it sounds like the sound very fine sandpaper makes when sanding... (could it be a misaligned belt)?

My car is fully warmed (three bars)... I noticed the sound today... only happens with the clutch released and gas slightly depressed...

Only mod I have is AEM CAI (which hums high-pitch as expected and doesn't sound related to this 'belt' noise )...

TIA

If your driving while hearing this, you might be hearing your clutch engaging. I seem to hear this aswell.

I hear this too as the clutch engages and I'm getting on the gas. If I let the clutch fully engage before I apply the throttle, I dont hear it as much.

Classic symptom of a bad throw-out bearing.

thanks guys... I did a search and found out it isn't covered by warranty by the previous posts... if it is the TO bearing.. any re-precussions (next to the sound) to not replacing it?

All s2k's have a very faint noise that can be heard from the TO bearing. My car has done it since day 1, and still does after a brand new TO bearing was installed with a ACT clutch. Every 00-04 I've been in has the same noise.

Does this sound you hear happen while cruising with light throttle pressure(like trying to maintain speed). I have heard this after a clutch install but it may have been there before. If this is normal I am going to stop obsessing about it. Any help would be appreciated
