Default Wheels... backwards compatible???

I'm got a MY00, and I've got a second set of stock wheels that I use for my race tires. If, in the next few years, I decide to pick up an 04 or 05, I was wondering if the 00-03 wheels would fit on the 04+.

Obvsiously, I could buy a set of 17" wheels and run the bigger rubber, but that's more expensive, both in terms of tire cost and having to buy new wheels. If I could just run the 16's, that'd be fine by me.

I'm guessing yes, the bolt pattern & offset is such that they could be inter-changed.

I'm sure somebody has actually done this swap and can back me up, though.

I put my '00 16" race wheels on a friend's '04 last weekend at an autocross. They fit just fine. Note that they would not be legal in stock autocross classes.
