Default Please help with new purchase

I am a new member looking forward to joining the ranks of you lucky sk2 owners am considering purchasing MY2000 SK2. Overall it looks pretty good for its age but I am concerned about some oil sweating as shown in the pictures below. I would appreciate input into whether or not these images show cause for concern. Thanks in advance.

Note the paint peel and oil sweat.
Of all the SK2s that I've seen I've not seen any sweating like this.

Looks like you need a valve cover gasket kit (12040-PCX-305) and new O-rings for the dipstick.

Thx for the quick reply Any idea how much that would cost and is there any reason to avoid buying this vehicle.

Here you go.

For the O-rings, you need to measure the inner diameter and get a couple from an O-ring kit. I forgot the diameter. I'll try to check, after I get off work.

Thanks. Looks like an inexpensive fix although I wonder if it is indicative of poor maintenance.

I wouldn't worry. He prolly adjusted the valves a few times, without replacing the gasket.

As filthy as this is and with the dip stick in wrong I doubt the owner bothered to check the valve clearances ever, not several times. With a Brand-X oil filter I doubt the owner paid much attention to the car.

The only clean part is the oil cap. I'd be curious how much oil the engine goes thru between changes.

Buying decision will depend on price.

Thank you everyone for your helpful responses. After having an inspection completed on the vehicle, it was determined that there were, among other things, several leak issues that needed attention. As the seller would not adjust his price to compensate for these issues, I sadly have to move on and continue my search.

Likely a good move. Aside from leaks, alignment bolt ecentric corrosion would be a factor. The green VTEC solonoid top, and the two upper exhaust manifold heat shield bolts, are a direct indicator of the overall corrosion level of the car.

Cars that are continuously parked on dirt or grass look like this.

You are bang on as the oil leak is from the VTEC solenoid. Also a brake master cylinder leak.
