cars that have just been introduced don;t get to earn the title of greatest quite yet.

they included hte new ford GT but not it's heritage the GT40? really?
no cobras, no cobra daytona..... i think I'd have to put a car with the number 43 on that list somewhere.....

I agree with about half of them - Chaparral, Eagle, Lotus (but calling it American is a stretch... and I watched it race at Indy), and Vet. Clearly the new Ford GT does not earn a spot - not yet anyways, and none of the rest IMHO really earn a spot. The DeltaWing hasn't lived up to the hype. Viper makes a statement but really doesn't make it when you think of the awesome cars that ran at Indy in the 50s and 60s. A Panoz over something like the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe.. I think not. Oh, well, you get the idea - to me some boss asked their secretary to put together a list.

I'm pretty much in agreement with the above. There should be a 43 car or maybe the Hudson Hornet that terrorized the sands of Daytona Beach all those years ago. And Shelby should be represented. After all, the GT40 did knock Ferrari off the podium at Le Mans.

In MSN's defense, they did title the article "Eleven of the Greatest..." rather than "The Eleven Greatest..."

IMHO the only car that truly deserved to be on that list was the Gurney Eagle. Why was not the original Ford GT(40) on the list? After all, it took the first three places at the 24 Hours of LeMans in 1966.

Maybe because I the time it was the most expensive LeMan's race win in the history of the sport, bar none - don't piss off Mr Ford.

I thought the GT40 was actually made in England.

The Mark IV was built in Michigan. I will yield the the fact that the original GT40 was built in England, but, the Mark IV was built in Michigan:

Oh come on Bill. What do you expect from MSN? I just post it here to stimulate some conversation. I've yet to see them be completely on target with any car related article (or most any other article either).
