Default 1991 all wheel drive Civic

I just looked at a somewhat unusual car for my son Chris. A 1991 Honda Civic All Wheel Drive wagon. The letter designation is RT. It looks like the predecessor to the CR-V. Does anyone have any info on reliability for this model? It has 130K miles, which isn't too bad for the year. It is a 5 speed (actually a six speed as it has a "super low" gear).

We had a 1986 Honda SI 5 speed that died at 254K on it's 2nd clutch. We bought it with 17 miles on it. Loved that car!

It wasn't a wagon but it was built in Japan.

PM Matt - he might have some info.

Good luck!

Try googling honda Civic RT you'll come up with a some info. Here is one list of specs that I came up with

Great minds thin alike Rob. I saw that web site before I went to look at the car. I wasn't sure what to make of it. Also, google didn't reveal any better iformation about the AWD Civic. It seems to be a low production vehicle.

I'm right next door in Manhatten. The AWD seems to be a very rare bird.

Repairs? I'm buying this car due to your repeated, mantra-like assurances of Honda reliability. Don't tell me you take it all back now?

Don't know about the AWD durability of the car, but I can speak to the brakes and the engine, as they are taken directly from the CRX-Si.

My CRX-Si has 100,125 miles, and about 8,000 of that is track use, and the engine still runs like a champ, and the brakes if properly cared for have brain sloshing braking capacity.

This could be a very good purchase, but of course I would have to see it and drive it to be sure.

Sort of, a lot of that is based upon geography.

In their day I saw LOTS of them up here, you know, up here where we have real snow...

Funny thing is, I actually tried to buy a used one a while back, just to have a spare motor for my CRX-Si.
