I took one of those drives today. From central Delaware to northeast New Jersey to visit my daughter and 2 grandchildren. Unfortunately, 1/2 of the drive was on the NJ Turnpike. But, I took exit 5 and 2-laned it the rest of the way. Temps about 50-55, but with a cap and windbreaker on (and the heat turned up), under brilliant skies, it was great. It was also great seeing my grandchildren!!

Coming home, I took a different route. In Lakewood, looked in my mirror and there was a red S2K following me (with a blonde at the wheel!!! ) My top was still down, so I waved. Hers (S2k's!!) was up, but she waved back. Followed me for a mile or so, then turned off, and waved bye!

Life is great in an S2K!!!

By the way, I think NJ has some of the worst road sign markings I have ever seen. Route markings disappear and make turns with no advance notice, the same route number changes from north to west in the same direction, many traffic signals have no advance left turn green, etc, etc, etc. (This is an editorial comment...all you Jersey guys can dump on Delaware if you want!!)

In spite of this, a great fall day!!!!

We don't have the crashing surf and Pacific coastline here in Pennsyvania, but it is a beautiful state...especially the northern half The second or third growth forests have come back...the roads sweeping through the valleys of the Allegheny Mountains are just great and deserted
It's hard to believe that this northern half makes PA one of the most densely forested states in the US...on an average basis

Temp here now 30.6...Put the hardtop back on Wed. Oct 1. This is the start of my "other season"..the one where it is too cold for enjoyable top down driving and before the roads are covered with ice/salt. Sure love the look of the car with that top on, feels like I'm driving a different car again. The H/T will stay on until mid April or May, depending on the weather.

Greybeard-- R. Crumb, Mr. Natural, Zap Comics, '60s....... the bells are ringing, but I still can't quite fill out the memory. Guess I'll try an internet search.
