Porsche door panel has been returned. Rick is re-installing it now. BMW will get an inspection sticker this week, and both vehicles will get some PPF applied.

It's still not convertible weather.

Hitting 90 out here late afternoon. 70F (21C) all morning is perfect top down. However, deep summer is waking and that is too hot mid day.

May I ask how much of the PPF will cover and what the quote is please? I just got a quote for Expel, both fenders, hood and headlights (front bumper already has it but I need to remove partial bra) which came in at $1100.

I got the car out of the garage as winter storage is coming to an end, and I felt like taking it for a spin. It has new tranny fluid swapped in, so I thought that I would test it out. Weather is decent, some sun, maybe 10 degrees C. I put a coat of Griots ceramic spray on the car last night, they say to give it 24 hours to cure. I don't think I will ever go back to using traditional car coatings, this spray on ceramic is great. No back ache as I can do the entire car in 10 minutes , easy spray-on and wipe dry, so no chance for the back to get sore, lol.

The car runs great, the transmission felt super slick with the new fluid - I put Amsoil MTF (5w30) in all of my manuals. A light and nimble car with amazing handling, you really don't need a lot of power to have an enjoyable drive with these cars, It is as close as I can get to a modern S2000, they are very similar in many ways, with a bit more tech and a good bit more comfort, plus a nice fixed roof.

I also use Amsoil synthetic MTF and it is great. When it warms up it really does feel like butter.

Sounds reasonable. Hope you don't run into a paint issue removing the clear bra. I don't remember what we spent on the Porsche initially, we need the front bumper re-done as well as a rocker panel. There was a "mishap."

We got a quote for the Z4 $2580. Full hood, full fenders, front bumper, mirrors, rocker panels and windshield frame. We should likely have the headlights done too.

oh yeah for sure, I used it on the S2000 for years and it was always the best fluid , even in -15 degrees C it would still shift well, and when it is warm it does shift like butter 100%. The transmission on the BRZ is a variant of the Aisin tranny from the S2000, so the Amsoil tranny fluid works equally well in it. I think the differential is almost identical to the S2000 unit.

I was surprised to find out that the batteries on Subarus are "NOT" maintenance free. BRZ owners have been reporting that water levels in their batteries were low even when the car is relatively brand new. I am surprised that we have batteries with water fill holes these days.

I'm going to check mine shortly. I had a battery failure on our Subaru WRX when it was relatively new, and I replaced it with an AGM battery rather than going through warranty at the time. If the battery on my BRZ ever acts up I will just replace it with a better battery as well, there is nothing more important than a good battery

Update: I just checked the water levels. There are six plastic fill /inspection caps, and the water level was low !, like others reported. I filled it to the top of the plates and just under the bottom part of the fill caps. Should be good enough for now, I found some distilled water to use.

That's very reasonable for PPF. One thing to check is which film it is, Expel has a few different options.
