Another S2000 Life Lesson
So there we were, driving on the highway, enjoying the sun and checking out the other cars...
...when up ahead the wife and I spy a dark red, late-model Ferrari (not an everyday occurance for us). I think it was a 355, but I never got close enough to find out.
Being the 43-year-old adolescent I am, I immediately go nuts:
"Omigod it's a Ferrari! Let's check it out!"
So a few miles later I maneuver my way through Northern Virginia Saturday traffic, but the driver evidently sees me coming, and I swear I could feel him CRINGE as he slowed and ducked behind a big truck. He was doing everything he could to avoid me.
And then it struck me -- to him, my S2000 was just an annoying little gnat buzzing around his head, an automotive pest waiting to goad him into a race and possible danger.
All I really wanted was a better look at his beautiful car, but how was he to know?
Then I thought of the Camrys, minivans, Civics, Luminas, and whatever else I sometimes wish would just go away as they speed up, show off, or otherwise go out of their way to look at MY beautiful, exotic (to them) sports car.
I'm not talking about road-ragers with axes to grind, just other average drivers with an appreciation for something different. I'm just lucky to have what I have, and I'd like to be a decent person about sharing it.
So, thank you, Honda Motor Corp., for affording me this moment of insight. And to the Ferrari driver, I say thank you for sharing your beautiful machine with us, and I hope your drive ended safely.
And now, a final thought:
Walk a mile in another man's shoes. Then when he realizes you have his shoes, you'll be a mile away!

To paraphrase what OhioRacer or some other sage said elsewhere in Vintage, "The S2000 vintage owners who have congregated in this community seem to hold similar values and appreciation for life...while many other vintage types are into SUV's or big sedans etc."
