Antiques Roadshow coming to Delaware!
...and I got 2 tickets! Have to wait til June, but have a couple pieces in mind to take. Actually, we are allowed 2 items per ticket.
Anyone else been selected for another venue? Should be interesting. :) It will be held at Winterthur. This is the estate of Henry Francis du Pont, one of the famous du Pont family members. |
Taking the NSK? ;)

Maybe these three baskets. Oak hand split by two "old maids" in the early 1900's. This was their livelihood. They lived close to my dad, and he knew them. Hopeful the provenance will help. :fingerscrossed: The craftmenship is amazing. Shelton sisters baskets. My mom used the middle one for her sewing basket, and we used the larger one for a magazine holder. The smallest one was never used other than for display as far as I know. In searching the internet, I found this copy of a letter my dad wrote about the sisters and their baskets: https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...c774d1c347.jpg |

Thanks for posting the letter from your father, Gene. It was very touching. You get a real sense of the different times we lived in two generations ago. Good luck with your tip to the Roadshow. I've never gone or even tried to get in. I don't have anything that rare and the things that might be interesting have no provenance.

Cool story Gene. We should all try to record stuff that the next generation or maybe the one after might appreciate.
