Congratulations and good luck with the +1's daily driver! Trading up in December (EOY sales targets/winter) might have encouraged a good deal for you. Otherwise, I would think that you took a big hit on '05 depreciation

I rolled the dice this summer re: unknown 2006 changes....decided to trade up from an '00 with 65k miles to an '03 GPW with 12.5 miles. The other choice would have been trading up to an '06 at 2X the $$. Seeing the improvements and the neat new blue color, I might have decided to wait Geez, I would have also probably avoided my July accident (due to the notorious too-far-gone S-02's and a wet road). Nevertheless, life is good

The Color, Very Nice

Wonder how she would look with a Blue Top ?

We wondered the same thing - but then decided we preferred the contrast of the black top. Either would be nice though - I'm sure!

Nice color, colorado. How do you like the feel? I know I was initially disappointed going from the '01 to the '05. I still think the '01 is more fun for play time.
I have never driven any with the 2.0 engine and 9K redline, so I don't "know any better"!!

I do notice a definite difference with the DBW.

I took some hit - but not as bad as it could have been. Dealing on a S2K in Colorado in December is pretty unpredictable no matter what!!! It's a pretty sure bet that if not for me, the '06 would have sat in their showroom all winter - and now my '05 will likely sit on their used lot all winter as well.

For some reason I thought you had a year 2000, not a 2005. But you still feel a difference? Care to expand on that?

It's a little hard to explain - but I always felt the mechanical throttle linkage on the '05 was a little too sensitive (almost to the point of jerky). Many will say that's the way a car like this is supposed to be - and there is truth to that as the S is not your typical Park Avenue!!!

But the DBW seems to take away that feeling for me and yet it provides a good "feel" for what the car is doing. My shifts are smoother. When you tap the brake to disengage the cruise, the actual process does not seem to be as abrupt.

Hope this makes sense. I would be curious to hear from others that test drive or buy a '06 for their comments.

It's hard to see how this could not be true -- if I do something to disengage the cruise and my right foot is near the accelerator pedal, it gets whapped when the pedal is released.

By now, DBW is several years old, and maybe they've improved it. I had it in an 01 car (an Audi allroad), and it was a huge source of complaint on the allroad forum on Audiworld. What would really be nice would be an adjustable DBW, so you could set the sensitivity of its response. People who like that "Park Avenue feeling" could just set it that way, and the rest of us could find out optimal setting by fooling around with it.

And, after all, that's what it's really all about, no -- fooling around with your car? HPH
