Anyone else in Vintage like to Sail?
Hmmm...
With an avatar like this, d'ya think?
'Zephyr' is a C&C 33 MkII. Great, fast boat. Cruised her for seven summers (way too short in Michigan, though). We managed a pretty respectable racing record, too.
Unfortunately, just sold her so am "between boats," a situation likely to remain until end of '04. Surprised I don't have a picture here at work. I'll post one later.
Looks like a great spot to be and a good boat to be there in. Enjoy!

I love the water and love to sail. I don't have a boat of my own but spend a lot of time aboard a friends. 25 years ago it was waterskiing on a glass like lake behind a power boat in CT. (my brothers). Cutting out on the turn, going as fast as I could and darting back across the wake. I was also into muscle cars. Drove a 70 dodge challenger. Now it's driving my roadster from PA to the eastern shore in MD and sailing on the chesapeake aboard a friends 34' catalina. A real good weekend is driving down early Saturday morning with the top down, Sailing all day, spending the night in Annapolis or Baltimore sailing back on Sunday morning and a great drive back on Sunday. Between the convertible and the boat, I am in the sun all weekend. Folks marvel at my tan and say "you must have been on vacation". The deal was he was he was going to teach me to sail and I would help out fixing and repairing which is what just love to do. That was 10 years ago, we both have learned a bit from each other and drank a few beers a long the way. I was on the water a few weeks ago and I already miss it. It's gonna be a long winter

Here's a nice holiday present for your Dad. Get him tickets to the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show. I think it's in Feb. Every boat in the world will be there.
Boats like anything else are expensive to maintain. More so if they're in salt water. Another good idea to see how dad likes sailing is send him to a sailing school. Colgates run a couple great ones in Florida. You can do a cat charter in the islands. He'll have a blast. Get him a subscription to Sail Magazine.
