Building in Alexandria, Va.

Anyone know the history of this building? You can’t see it in this picture but there is a small wood door hidden by the brick column.

Alexandria covers a pretty large area, Jim. What's the address? The cobblestones put it possibly somewhere in old town but again, that's a fairly large area. I live in Alexandria and with the address I can get some information pretty quickly.

Looking for a warehouse or factory building?

Generically it resembles the loading dock at the back of an old school. You can access the county tax records on line which shows a history of ownership -- not sure if it goes back 80 - 100 years.

Alexandria is an independent city, it's not in a county.

Roger on independent city -- like Petersburg or Colonial Heights but more crowded. ;)

OK, check city records. :) They on line?

Thanks, I just thought it looked odd so took a picture. It was near the waterfront and might have been on s. Union or S. Lee and King St.

Just thought I would ask.

Thanks,

Jim

We prefer to think of it as having more good restaurants :) Yep. The records are online but an address is necessary to find out info. This was definitely in old town.

One of the worlds (okay, the US's) largest arms merchant has a warehouse on the waterfront around that area. Was it near a small waterfront park? Now I'm going to have to take a drive down there tomorrow (we were just iat the waterfront end of King Street for dinner tonight) just to see if I can figure out where/what it is/was.
