Well when I had my own office, I was CEO, CFO, President, Secretary, Treasurer, Chairman of the Board, Owner and Chief Bottle Washer. Does that count?

I agree with an early oil change and monitoring the situation to see if it improves of gets worse.
I am getting the so-called-fix done tomorrow. It is software updates to the engine control unit, transmission control unit and A/C control unit. Plus the first oil change, which is free but does not include the filter (dah). The car has 4,800 miles on it and the computer maintenance says there is 60% oil life remaining before it would actually be schedule for an oil change, which would be 12,000 miles. I would rather spend my money on prevention, i.e. oil changes, than analysis that doesn't solve anything.

I wonder how much they will charge for labor on the filter change.

Are you sitting down. That is entirely up to the dealership should the customer think that a gasoline catch can does not make a good filter. I read one post saying he was charged $30! Of course they do hold extra oil. I will be finding out tomorrow.

Wow. I was just being snarky. Glad I always sit when at my PC.

It came as no surprise when I was told changing the filter would be $30. Thankfully, I had a postcard from the dealership with $10 towards and oil change. So that knocked it down to $20. The filter, under parts, shows $12 on the receipt. But my cost ended up being $10. Typo? I don't know and I did not complain.

Back to the actual topic of this thread (there IS really a thread about Dave's CR-V and oil dilution), I guess we will see next week whether Rob's start problem is really fixed or not. I assume the east coast is going to drop into the teens or below later in the week like it will here.

That's BS on the attempted $30 filter change charge. Until recently my dealer only charged $29 plus tax for an oil and filter change. Up to $34 now. Of course they would also charge me that much when I brought in my S2k with my own synthetic oil. They would say that "well, it's actually more by the book but we have the oil change special pricing and we won't charge you any extra for the S2K filter even though the price of that is higher". To me it was still be worth it to have them do it for $30 bucks at 8 or 9 at night -- it is convenient.

.
For the last few mornings the temperature has been in the mid 20s and we've had a few inches of snow. The Si started on the first try each morning. Colder weather is expected for the next few days together with rain and snow. I hope the car continues to start without a problem. We'll soon find out.

A car that starts, even a Honda, is always good.
