Ford posted its first quarterly loss in 2 years. There's lots of unanswered questions about their partnership with VW. One of the things VW is looking for is an entry into the truck market. Ford certainly isn't going to give up the large pickup market - F150s - but I could see them letting VW make the small truck or at least exchange it's in's and out's and share architecture in exchange for all the things Ford hopes to gain.

I have had a chance to drive a Model S and it was really impressive, but I am still find Musk's ability to run the Tesla corporation a little dubious..
Clearly they have issues in their assembly plant. Does you friend has a service center close by? Here in Michigan to have one serviced you have to drive to Cleveland, OH!

VW's does trucks in other markets, just not in the US. I read the Ford/VW deal was for a commercial vehicle deal, but I suppose that could evolve into more if it goes well.

VW doesn't need Fords help in making a truck in my opinion. If I had to guess, Ford may be wanting to platform share with VW for their compact/small truck since VW's already got one.

VW Saveiro is compact truck, the Amarok is a mid size truck, like the old Ranger/Mazda truck from the 80's/90's.

The service center is about 20 miles from him.

A Ford/Volkswagen mashup. What could possibly go wrong?
Companies that are making or working on electric cars, autonomous electric cars, maned spacecraft, tunnel based rapid transit, electric tractor trailers, whole home battery systems, solar panels, candy, and "ultra-high bandwidth brain-machine interfaces to connect humans and computers,", all run by a genius of questionable mental health. What could possibly go wrong?

I think Tesla I learning it's a whole lot easier to make a few high margin cars a week than to crank out hundreds of low margin cars a week.

Here is the current list of Hagerty's hottest 25 collector cars. Cars make the list by showing the highest percentage of increased value since the last report. So a car that was worth $1,000 last month and rose to $1500 this month will be "hotter" than a car that was worth $1,000,000 last month and $1,100,000 this month. So it is usually a list of pretty affordable cars.

You are correct, the official statement is for commercial trucks and medium duty trucks, plus electric vehicles. However, I have heard panel discussions suggesting it goes deeper.
