As I stated in the E-mail that I sent to you and Paul. Once I determined that the CD that came with the USB to Serial cable was toast. I down loaded the Chirp S/W and was able to program the GMRS channels and test it. I also figured out how to navigate the (not so user friendly FFC.gov web site to apply for a license for the high powered (8 Watt)) GMRS radio to be legal. I wonder how long it will take the FCC to send it to me? I printed out the receipt just in case that it does NOT arrive in time for this meet. I also E-mailed Kathy to order a radio strap for the roll hoop as Boafeng recommends that the antenna is at least 2.5 CM away from one's body while transmitting. I am happy that the "ear bud" has an over the ear clip as my experience has been that ear buds fall out of my ears.
I am interested to see how well this radio performs on the drive?

Ask for the DDG group rate. The rate is $149/night. I will be there Friday and Saturday. Just look for Gro-VA.
