Jet fuel is just kerosene, with certain additives and specifications to keep it liquid at very cold temperatures. Adding "jet fuel" to the gas would not help.

What they said was that it was some sort of additive that is added to jet fuel. But the press picked up on "jet fuel" and of course it sounds like that must be powerful and exotic....

All racing is about working the rules to get the fastest result you can legally. However, "interpreting the rules" or "finding holes in the rules" or outright cheating has pretty much always been a part of racing. All sorts of racing, from people, to horses, to sailboats, to cars ... anything.

That doesn't make it right, but it does make it somewhat unsurprising.

I had parents lying about their kid's age (9-11, 12-14) in Junior Soccer Leagues, when I was coaching years ago. I think cheating has invaded every element of our cultural fabic. Very sad.

I don't think this is one of those situations where someone was just "stretching the rules". NASCAR levied a pretty severe penalty (100 points). It must have been bad.

I'm kind of wondering about the other side of the coin. Mikey's denials notwithstanding I'm wondering how far up the chain knowledge of whatever they were trying to do to oxygenate the fuel really goes.

Edit - In light of how slow the Toyotas have been in testing and qualifying. That's a lot of pressure on new teams.
