^ He did not have a mansion in Chicago...that was in Miami. He purchased a small house on the south side of Chicago in 1923. He also picked up one other thing in Chicago - syphilis when working as a bar bouncer. It weakened him significantly before his death and was a major contributing factor.

Congrats, on the maximum number of photos, with the minimum amount of traffic. Very nice!

Great shots!

If you have a next visit to Chicago, please let me know. I'd be more than happy to get together with you and show you some of this fair city. However, you chose a good option with the river cruise. It's actually an internationally famous architectural tour because of the founding of skyscrapers and clad buildings with a steel structure in Chicago ( Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, architect).

In your first photo you show the Clark Street bridge from Wacker Drive to the Near North area. Two bridges beyond that and to the right is the very large limestone building called the Merchandise Mart. I worked in the top floor of the adjacent building (brick front) for several years. It was then the headquarters of Helen Curtis and the Gidwitz Family investment company.

I'm happy to see that you had a good time.

^ Thanks...that would be great. We do plan to return for a longer visit. I remember the Merchandise Mart. I'd have to write a very long book to describe all the significant buildings we saw.

I want to see Al Capone's secret vault. I understand it was just filled with exciting things --- at least that's what Geraldo Rivera told me.

Chicago IS a pretty cool city. Wife and I need to get back up there. There's a blues club called Kingston Mines that I want to visit.

See above for a few more pics from the +1, including some from the wedding. My nephew was born with some serious medical problems and has had several surgeries over the years. He was not expected to live, so this wedding was especially significant to the family.
