BTW - the Westin River North on Dearborn is where we stayed, with a club-level room overlooking the river. Really nice and a great location. Club level has a suite where they serve breakfast, happy hour wine, etc. You can see it above next to the Marina City buildings (the ones that look like a stack of 45 records).

In your first photo you show the Clark Street bridge from Wacker Drive to the Near North area. Two bridges beyond that and to the right is the very large limestone building called the Merchandise Mart. I worked in the top floor of the adjacent building (brick front) for several years. It was then the headquarters of Helen Curtis and the Gidwitz Family investment company.

I'm happy to see that you had a good time.
Here is the Merchandise Mart...got left out of the pics above.

We went to one of my nephew's two favorite bars - Three Dots and a Dash. A tiki bar in an alley. Loads of fun. Named one of the best 50 bars in the world. I had a drink called a Painkiller. And there were five young ladies next to us who had something called the Bali Bali. Crazy - it's like the volcano erupting on Bali Hai from South Pacific. Lots of smoke from dry ice pouring down from a big round glass supported by octopus tentacles. Five long straws to drink from. Very cool. Here is a link to the place and pic of the Bali Bali.

I wondered about the name, and in Morse Code, ...- is for V. Don't know if that means anything, though.

^ Yep...The name is Morse Code for Victory - the signal given to American troops that WWII had finally come to an end.

I hope my nephew and his new bride are not in Paris yet, or have left. This weekend would not be the best time to be in the city! They were scheduled to go to Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris for their honeymoon. Update - they are in Brussels for another couple of days, so looks like they will be in Paris after the craziness.
