Well Matt, one thought is Christmas becomes a milestone of sorts.
You've heard the stories of 'She hung on until he got back from his trip overseas."
Perhaps do the same with Christmas.

Of course the flip side is it could be driven by the stress created by the family get togethers.
The dietary habits change pretty dramatically on the holidays as well. I know my gout tends to flare at Xmas.
