The Ruger is on sale at the moment at Bass Pro as well. I spent a few minutes handling it and will probably buy one. Looks like the best compromise between size, feel, stopping power, quality and price.

To be honest with you, no. The rifle was a gift, along with about 100 rounds. Only been to the range twice and only burned through about 30 rounds. My son brought his collection of about five long guns each time...everything from a .17 target rifle to an East European AK-47, so there were a lot of rifles to try out.

Its cost of 7.62 is not that bad price wise. I have one also and really I don't shoot it much so buying all the reload stuff wouldn't make sense.

Palmetto has the Shields on sale right now as well.

So the 54mm round is not that much more than the AK-47's 39mm one?

Thanks!

Navy SEAL Chris Kyle hit a human target from close to that range. In a combat situation.

Bet he didn't carry that weapon concealed!

On a more relevant note.... waiting for my Kydex holster to come in....

Hit the range the other day and went thru a 100 rounds... the new gun felt good!

Sorry Ray but not even close. "In his book, American Sniper, Kyle describes his longest successful shot: in 2008, outside Sadr City, he killed an insurgent sniper aiming at other members of the US military with "a straight-up luck shot" from his McMillan Tac-338 sniper rifle from about 2,100 yards (1,920 m) away." That's converts to 1.2 miles. Plus the Canadian didn't hit a target, he too killed a person.
