Seen this morning in the Long Beach Waffle House parking lot,,,

I had to stop and take a pic of this Spawn of a Corvette and a Bass Boat when I saw it parked at WH.

Notice that even the OEM rims failed to escape the wrath of the sparkle fairy.

The day was saved when I saw this little cutie in the back of the parking lot. So what is it? First one to guess the brand correctly gets an attaboy.

Isn't that the same 1979 Honda Accord sitting next to the Vette? Mike's Accord?

You get to go to the head of the class again.

Mike, WOW, WOW, WOW. What a great assortment of cars and trucks. I really enjoyed your comments that went along with the pictures. Many of the cars seem well spaced so you can really take them all in. That early picture of the patna truck with the tongue hanging out sticks with me and made me smile.

David gets the Honda-spotter prize.
ATTA BOY, DAVE.
(The Acty is actually a local that is seen regularly at WH.)

Deb gets props for identifying my '79 Accord. WAYTOGO, DEB.

Jim gets the "I've been punked" award.
(Jim, the year is right there on the front tag. Time to upgrade those reading specs?)

Duh Now I get it.

That was the car that in 1976 announced the Japanese drive to excellence and dominance to compete with American ‘70s junk iron.

https://www.edmunds.com/honda/accord/history.html

The 86 Acura Legend confirmed the Honda claim!

I had two of those early Accords and later on an ‘86 Legend. They were great cars with a lot of luxury for the times...

I wanted an Accord as soon as I read Car and Driver's glowing review back in '76. But at the time it was just out of reach financially, as both Sandy and I were in college at the time. The Accord was a great value but our budget pushed us to a Mazda GLC instead. Since then I've always wanted to own a 1G Accord just for fun.

While on our first post-graduation jobs we were able to afford a new second generation 1984 LX hatchback in "copper brown" metallic. That car had EVERYTHING including a 5 speed, power brakes, excellent power steering, A/C, passenger side mirror, am/fm/auto-reverse cassette, 8 spoke alloy wheels, and rear window slats. The driving dynamics of that car were a revelation, and a big step forward from the darn good Mazda 626 that I traded in. And I was able to purchase the Accord off the lot for just 500 above MSRP, a pretty good deal at the time.
