Discussion on Good Movies

Has anyone seen "Cars 3" yet? I loved the first one, but after the second one I'm not so sure the franchise has any legs left. I can't help but think the movie was made to sell the toys.
"DespicableMe 3" is coming out soon. I'm sure we're going to see it, Liz is a big fan. I think they're overdoing it and the Minions will wear out their welcome shortly. As much as both of us like this series, I think we're beginning to get tired of it.

We saw Cars 3 today and loved it. Much more like #1 than #2. Didn't care for #2.

And, the story which was based on fact, was excellent and very well told. This is one of those movies that you absolutely must see.
And my remark at the time was:
High praise indeed, since SR is clearly one of my all time top movies. I had it on my list to see when it comes out on on the 'tube' at a reasonable price but it will moved up my list.
And tonight:
Tonight I spent $5.95 and we watch it. Awesome movie with exceptional acting. Since I knew, or at least suspected, the outcome - it didn't have the drama for me that Shawshank Redemption did but it was still a excellent movie.
I have to say one thing drove me nuts and it began at the very beginning - a 1957 Chevy in 1961 should not look like it just came off the showroom floor. And, thereafter every parking lot shot was the same - every car looked like they were lined up at concour's car show instead of a normal company parking lot in the early 60s. To me those Way Too Shiny cars had the same effect of watching poorly done backgrounds in early B&W movies.

We saw Baby Driver today and it was good. A little bloody and has a lot of language, but good acting and a slight twist at the end. I gave it an 8 and Mrs. GM3 gave it a 7.5.

Loving-A fine movie telling the story of a very sad time in America. It wasn't so very long ago that interracial marriage was a crime punishable by prison. The Lovings helped to change this and make things better for all of us, those of us in interracial marriages and even those who are not. This is a movie that everyone needs to see. It isn't a fast moving movie, and it won't keep you on the edge of your seats, but it is a story that everyone must hear and see. Many of us are grateful that the Lovings came before us. There are still a lot of lessons to be learned.

Saw Spiderman Homecoming today. It was good, not the best Marvel movie, but good.

The Founder-This is the story of Ray Kroc and how he built McDonald's. A good movie, not a great movie, but a good movie. If you like popular history and are curious about the history of McDonald's this a good movie to see. If not, I doubt that you'd like it. The acting is ok and as mentioned the story is the story of McDonald's. I think the genre is known as Docudrama. I think it was worth the 115 minutes it took to watch it, but I don't think I'll watch it a second time. I felt like this is what would probably happen if the History Channel merged with Hollywood.
