Discussion and review of Good Movies

I agree that Netflix is the entertainment equivalent of scouring the cupboards and the fridge again for something to snack on when you know there's nothing there. I swear its like a graveyard for failed movies. The documentaries and some of the shows are the only thing worth watching.

The beginning of the movie made me think about someone I know who had a father who was a bad influence on his son's life and helped my understanding of the man who was the son. In the middle of the movie I couldn't help but think of the song with the lyrics, "I've been through the desert on a horse with no name..."LEAN ON PETE

MOVIE INFO
Fifteen-year-old Charley Thompson (Charlie Plummer) arrives in Portland, Oregon with his single father Ray (Travis Fimmel), both of them eager for a fresh start after a series of hard knocks. While Ray descends into personal turmoil, Charley finds acceptance and camaraderie at a local racetrack where he lands a job caring for an aging Quarter Horse named Lean On Pete. The horse's gruff owner Del Montgomery (Steve Buscemi) and his seasoned jockey Bonnie (Chloë Sevigny) help Charley fill the void of his father's absence-until he discovers that Pete is bound for slaughter, prompting him to take extreme measures to spare his new friend's life. Charley and Pete head out into the great unknown, embarking on an odyssey across the new American frontier in search of a loving aunt Charley hasn't seen in years. They experience adventure and heartbreak in equal measure, but never lose their irrepressible hope and resiliency as they pursue their dream of finding a place they can call home.

I highly do not recommend "Mamma Mia Here We Go Again'. In the movie, Meryl Streep's character is dead and the movie is so bad I cannot watch it. I rented it from Redbox and I am not going to finish it.

So, I started watching Longmire on DVD from Netflix last night: A Wyoming sheriff struggles to cope with his wife's death as he attempts to move on with his life and career. Based on the 'Walt Longmire' mystery novels by Craig Johnson.
I liked it enough to sit through three or four episodes of the series. Then I dreamed all night of murder and horrible pain and suffering. I'm such a wimp. The dream when I was waking up was about a bad guy who made a young girl gouge out the eyes of a woman with a spoon. I'm going to try watching more episodes before I give up and send the DVDs back to Netflix.

Normally, I don't ever carry any of that movie stuff with me but lately there have been a couple things that stuck to me. I must be getting more emotional in my old age.

We saw Vice this past Sunday. I liked most of it but I believe that a lot was made up with a strong left lean. It was kind of funny at times.

A recent episode of S.W.A.T., which I consider a no-brainer-action series that I tape because its something to watch if bored, just did a show about high school shootings. It was so well done, it left a real impression with me.
