Don't forget the more North you get the longer the days are. Much more total daylight regardless of the time zone.

Trying to do night tank gunnery at Camp Grayling MI in late June (say, June 20) has a very short period of complete darkness in which to shoot. Only 5-1/2 hours of darkness since it's quite light after and before actual sunrise. EENT is about 2300 and BMNT is about 0430. Here at Fort Lee VA EENT is about 2100 and BMNT at 0530. (All times corrected to EDT. US Naval Observatory 2019 data.)

I also remember walking out of a restaurant in Hawaii about 1900 and it was pitch dark on 20 June.

Our's sunset time today is 7:39pm. It's nice that it is still light out. This is when people start coming out of their houses after dinner.
