Deb, I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. I do know for sure that the small touch you gave for him had a major impact on his day and probably raised his spirits a lot.
It's things like that, the small things, that are truly appreciated by those that have to go through a debilitating disease. I know I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The support I've had from everyone here has made a huge difference in my life and how I've dealt with everything.

Such a sad story ... I can never get used to reading things like that ... everytime I hear such a story I book another vacation; really.
I am booked through the end of next year; can't make reservations further out than that.

Ms. Perky,
I've been reminded by the impending birth of my son, which has had some complications. Never take things for granted.
Also (if I may), I'd like to think that your friend, even while not being able to tie his own shoes, was holding onto life because of its value.

^ He definitely held on...he lived longer than most with that form of cancer do. I hope the complications with your son have been resolved. When is he due? Best of luck.

Bumping an old thread from 2005. Just heard that Alex Trebek has stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Very sad news. Unfortunately, the prognosis, just as it was when my friend had it, has not changed much.
