Double-Mask on Airplanes ? - Covid
My wife and I have not been away on vacation for over 2 years. A trip is coming up in 10 days. Flying to Cuba will have us on a plane for 3 - 3.5 hours, plus the time in the airports. Our wonderful government has implemented random Covid testing on people flying into Canada. Testing positive for Covid when we return to Canada would be a pisser. We've had 4 Covid shots so far, and we both had Covid in 2022. We are not anti-maskers and we don't subscribe to any of the Covid conspiracy theories.
Would we benefit by wearing double-masks while on the airplane and in airports ? What precautions do you guys/ladies follow when you fly these days ? Thanks for any replies.

One genuine N95 will do the job for mask concerns. Regular, non N95 masks are about 5% effective. Useless frankly.
Last year there was a study, valid one at that, which indicated an effective means to combat Covid was to irrigate nasal passages with a saline solution. It works for other virus that enter the body in that manner so why not this one too? I don't recall how many times a day they did this but the recovery was remarkable and the disease did not progress into the lungs.
Otherwise just maintain basic cleanliness. Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth with your fingers. Wash. Try not to touch objects in public bathrooms.

Go to home depot and get a P or N 100 mask.
"The number in a rating tells you the minimum amount of airborne challenge particles the mask protects against: an N95 mask keeps out at least 95% of particles but isn't oil resistant, and a P100 mask is oil proof while protecting the wearer from at least 99.8% of particles"
We use these masks when we have to fly. They also make breathing easier, the exhaust valve lets the air out with very little restriction and it keeps the filter drier which makes breathing in easier. The P/N 100 mask also seals on your face better so that keeps more Covid out of your lungs.
Don't cheap out on your health, they don't cost that much.

You may already know this but just in case...make sure to wear the mask correctly. I know you won't leave your nose uncovered like folks I see at Walmart
but there are other little things that make a difference, not just in wearing the mask but also in putting it on and taking it off. There are lots of youtube videos on the subject.

That eliminates what is probably the most effective function of wearing a mask which is to protect others against YOU. Exhaust valves just throw all that out the window.

It's not my job to protect you or your family.
My wife is immunocompromised and I'll do whatever I can to protect her. When we fly we take a home Covid test before we go to the airport, both ways. When our doctor told us to get mask he showed us the 3M respirator to get(also got one for my DIL who is a ICU nurse). At first(back in 2020) we got funny looks but as the dead kept going up(had to store some in refrigerated trucks) we got less funny looks and more people asking where they could get one.
My SIL got some 3M P100 disposable ones for us and we use them now when we go to Costco or any place where we will be around people. But we still have our 3M respirators if Covid picks up where we live.
Protect your family the best you can,
