Default Eight drugs some doctors won't take

From MSNBC:

eight drugs

Of course, plenty of M.D.'s do know which prescription and over-the-counter drugs are duds, dangers, or both. So we asked them, "Which medications would you skip?" Their list is your second opinion. If you're on any of these meds, talk to your doctor. Maybe he or she will finally open that big red book with all the dust on it.

I've taken Advair, and at some times the component of Advair (salmeterol) as a separate drug called Serevent, along with another controller.Fortunately, no issues. I guess the big question is how many people used to die from asthma attacks each year, before some of the new meds, including Advair became available?

I'd guess there are times when you have to outweigh the risks and take medications that may have the "black box" warnings.

So, is it time for a conversation with your doctor? Should people start refusing certain medications based on this kind of article? Try other meds first? What to do?

Thank goodness! I don't take any of these mentioned above. However, I think this is very useful information for your awareness. Thank you.

I use pseudophed when I dive. There is no other decongestant that I know of that works as well as Pseudophed, and congestion can be a real issue for divers and their ears.

I do too, Zippy but only if needed and I tend to take only half a dose.

I don't take any prescriptions or medications other than liquid vitamins and fish oil.
Good genes I guess.

I would check with my doctor before getting too alarmed about medical statements from a Men's Health magazine. I am actually playing golf with my doctor next Monday so maybe I'll bring this along to disscuss with him on the 19th hole. Thanks for the info.
