You are right Sam. It has always been, more or less, a sport that favor's one manufacture over all the others. Most of the tracks are boring and most of the races are boring unless there's rain. The only small bit of excitement is Qualifying and the First Lap. Otherwise, its blah, blah, blah about tire compound, tire wear, pits stops, and pit stop strategy.

Agree, this last race was helped by the safety car. Perhaps they should introduce a mandatory safety car around the halfway point.

The fastest lap point seems to have helped a little bit, but not enough. I believe they're trying (Liberty and the FIA) but it will take time.

I think things will mix up Lewis Hamilton retires. Unless Verstappen goes to Mercedes, that is.

I think that it is only a very few people that have a huge impact on the sport.
Adrian Newey comes to mind, Winning followed him from McLaren to Red Bull.

but the rules change for 2012 and the tussle shall start anew.

As much as I like F1, most races are basically parades with awesome sounding cars, that's about it. Watching Monaco is a sensory experience, the sights and the sounds are amazing, but the race is boring, the chance of a pass is slim to none (ok a bit of an exaggeration here but you get what I'm saying). Back when Zanardi was racing I followed Champ Cars very closely for a number of years, their races used to have multiple lead changes and passing was everywhere during the race. There was tons of competition between engine builders, chassis builders, and tire suppliers and they always managed to make each race exciting to watch. F1 had lacked all of that for many years, but the teams have tons of money, the series owners have made tons of money, the fans will support the series and their teams no matter what, so they have no impetus to make meaningful changes, the recipe works for them.

Anyone see this video of Sebastian Vettel interviews? Kinda funny dude. And he likes Kimi Raikkonen (I do, too). Best seen in 1080HD.

The best part of today at Monaco for me was that four (4) of the top eight (8) finishers were HONDA POWERED!

The best part of today at Monaco for me was that I have fast forward . . . another typical BORING Monaco race. Man, was the Indy 500 great by comparison.
