Default Federal Tax Calculator

This calculator from H&R Block estimates your taxes for this year and under the new tax plan in 2018. Plug in your numbers and the last step will show both this years liability and what they will be in 2018. https://www.hrblock.com/tax-calculator/#/en/te/aboutYou

Thanks Levi and Hector. I thought it would be helpful, especially since it's so simple to use.

Does it require any personal info other than income?

Just your filing status, age, and income for the standard deduction.

I don 't know who does your taxes, but this is the H&R Block filing form. It should be accurate.

As a partner in a law firm, my tax returns are very complicated and I have to pay tax on things that are not really income. Certainly not money I ever receive.

^When I lived overseas I paid what was called a "Hypothetical Tax." This is a special tax for expats to insure that they are not being penalized for working outside the country. It insures that you are not subjected to more tax abroad than you would pay if you lived in the U. S. When I returned home my company paid for my tax preparations for five years to make certain that non-monetary considerations, such as; rent, business, and transportation expenses were handled properly. I can understand your concerns.
