Morris, my apologies...I guess you are quite familiar with snow.

My husband (goblueS2K) and I were both born and raised in San Francisco, and lived there for the first 22 to 24 years of our lives. We have not lived in San Francisco since 1968, though.

However, we are still not that fond of the winters here in Ohio. We have also lived in Ithaca, NY; Ann Arbor, MI; outside of Kansas City, KS; and now outside of Columbus, OH. So, you would think we would be used to the winters, but we still don't like them.

No apologies necessary.
My time in Korea was spent driving a 4 wheel drive ambulance, that was actually fun in the snow. No snow plows when I was there. Korea is like Colorado, as far as cold and snow are concerned.

Our feeders are about empty but the little birds are still picking away. Earlier today we had a hawk fly into our sliding glass door. He sat on the deck table for a bit before flying off. Later the hawk came down and sat on top of our largest feeder. He flew away before I could get a picture.

That had to be cool to see up close. I had a Sparrow hit our sliding glass door last week. He fell face first into a foot of snow and disappeared. I was able to open the door and dig him out with a dust pan. He was out cold, but woke up after a few minutes. Spent the next 20 minutes sitting on top of the snow in the dust pan before he finally flew away.

My feeders have fresh seed, the suet has also been replaced. Since the rodent might still be living under the shed, I don't toss any seed on the ground in the back yard. BUT I felt bad for the hungry ground feeders so i did toss a little seed under the feeder in a side yard. The song sparrow has been around, as have a few Juncos. I saw a few chickadees today. Maybe the birds are coming out of hiding. I think this guy consumed most of the seed on the ground.

Why didn't grab the hawk after he flew into your door? Would have made for some great closeups!

(I'm kidding people... don't pick up birds!)

Ya right! I'm not entirely sure he wasn't trying to get me when he hit the window.

No birds have visited my feeder or bath today and I don't know why.

Pretty bird! Lovely photo. Same bird in different light? I'm not sure.
