^That's the reputation they have here although I've not had any problems. They are so big with long tails.

I've never seen one. Agree, it's a cool looking bird. We were able to turn off the AC and sleep with open windows the other night. Around 4:00 AM I heard a lovely bird song and recognized it as the Carolina Wren. They just seem to be showing up now. Love their song, but it was too early to be awake. Rick closed the window.

Blue birds are a rare sight around here. We've been fortunate that a pair took up residence this year in one of the bird houses I put up years ago. Tonight, I walked out on our deck and spotted close to a dozen hanging out in a dead tree next to the house!

Blue are really cool. We see them every year but we don't have a yard that works for them to stay.

I have never seen a bluebird here. There is a bluebird trail that includes Arlington Cemetery (I think), but they are elusive.

No bluebirds in my yard, but I was hanging out at the river (one of my happy places) on Sunday and spotted this blue bird. I've been going to that spot for quite a while and the other week a kid saw me with my camera and pointed out a little path that gets you closer to the water. This blue heron and an egret were just hanging around on the edge of the water. I managed to snap this photo as he/she flew off. Focus could be a bit sharper on the face, but I'll take what I can get. They flew up in the trees and I hung around watching them taking a ton of shots. In my world, I never tire of taking photos of these birds. Not sure why that is, though I have framed a couple shots and a few friends/family have some of my bird photos in their homes ...I was gone a while and Rick never missed me, The Patriots were playing.

That would make a nice painting if I knew how to paint.

Go for it! If you want a better quality image to work with, let me know!

No I need talent. A number of years ago my wife and I really got into the wildlife art scene and went to shows all around the state. We bought a number of prints as the originals were out of our price range. I did do a nice painting of mallard ducks that I gave away (and my wife never forgave me). At the time we were doing a lot of fishing and my friend mounted a few of our trophies to hang on the wall, so I repayed him with the painting since he was a huge fan of duck hunting.

Don't underestimate your talent! Maybe you NEED a winter painting project. What's the worse than can happen? You toss it in the trash? Nothing lost but some time, and retired guys have a little bit of time to spare. I think I took 100 photos on Sunday. I liked maybe 5 or 10% and can still find fault with those. No big deal, I still had fun being out there.
