I guess they'd rather be in a safe tree to work on them.

Patricia, I was just reading that the jays often bury the seed for later, and actually "hide" it/mark it with a twig or a leaf as well.

Lainey,
get some colored dried corn on the cob. They love it and will peck at it for a while.
We had some hanging on the door and I kept hearing someone knocking.
I'd get up, nobody there. Five minutes later it would be knocking again.
Finally I caught him flying away and realized most of the ear was picked clean.

Make sure you use unsalted peanuts!

I buy the peanuts from a local feed store... 5 lbs at a time..

The blue jays around here... grab a peanut off the railing... take it back into the honeysuckles.... and crack it open and eat the peanuts....

Or they bury it in the neighbors yard!

I'll have to see if they are unsalted.....why is that recommended?

Edit: No salt listed just peanuts.
