Snow - put the bird feeders out - one mourning dove. That's all.

Do you live in cat colony? Just give it time, if you just put them out. Ours are year-round and Dah Birds know that.

...and an eagle flew over me while walking the dog tonight! Only the third time I have seen one in flight.

I've seen one once while in Maine. One of my co workers lives near a body of water and he tells me he has eagles, egrets, herons, on the property. I've got an invite to head over there with my camera. It's on my "to do" list for sure!

Finally have some birds, thanks for the encouragement Dave. Like you, we are expecting a heap of snow and the need for food has overcome the fear of strange feeders. We don't feed the birds in the summer but it doesn't usually take them so long to come to the feeders once they are out. May be a neighbor has a better menu.

That's great. Yes, Michigan is having a Beautiful Winter Wonderland snowfall right now! We've literally have had 50 birds at a time, of all types, in the backyard all day. For example, I think I counted 11 at one time on a very small finch feeder by a kitchen window while I was eating lunch. In addition to multiple seed feeders and multiple suet feeds, we have a bird bath with a heater and a wife who changes the water when it gets to dirty, that plus the nearby low branches all add to make it a "hangout".

We just got a new feeder that has three different chambers in it. I'm going to fill one chamber with sun flower seeds now that the cardinals have started to show up.

What feed do you use in the other part of the feeder?

I use Tractor Supply's 'Royal Wing Classic Mix' which is a mixture of white millet, milo, cracked corn, wheat and black oil sunflower seed. The Chickadees and Titmouse love it. The Cardinals will pick thru but it isn't their first choice.
