I believe the effectiveness of the current flu shot is about 30%. That is what my doc said when I got my most recent one. And yes, it does diminish the effects if you do get the flu.

My Doc insists that I get a flu vaccination shot every year. I also did a pneumonia shot this year. But I just finished three weeks of miserable cold with bronchtis but no fever. Otherwise I think I would have gotten the flu. There is so much crud going around. And the coughing seems to last forever...

The best defense is to not touch your face at all unless you're at home in your shower.

Eyes, nose, and mouth are the most common virus entry pathways.

If the virus is airborne, which is rare, then you can't help that.

But by not touching your face at all, with anything, you're doing all you can to shut down that path of infection.

Best remedy,a good shot of Geneva Gin,with honey,lemon juice,and hot water;drink,until you feel no pain...

I am in the same boat. This cold and cough just won't go away.

The +1 got slammed. He was really, really sick for three or four days. High fever, headache, etc. Caught it at his office - almost everyone there got it. He still has a cough 10 days later. I was spared the worst of it, thank goodness. I had a flu shot - not sure if he did. So I expect that helped me.
